Name : Heather
Blog : A Bibliophile’s Paradise
State / Country : Washington / USA
Welcome Heather!
Tell us a little bit about you.
I am a 22 year old Navy wife with a 2 year old daughter and an amazing husband. I’m a stay-at-home mom (the best job in the world) and I am also working on my English degree at AMU.
Have you ever lived anywhere else in the world?
I was born in Dallas, TX where I lived for 18 years, besides that I have lived in Virginia Beach, VA for 6 months, Tampa, FL for a little under 3 years, and we just moved to Washington a few months ago.
What countries have you visited?
Mexico and the Bahamas.
What countries would you like to visit?
Canada (we plan on going next month), Japan (to visit my brother who is in the Marines), Russia, Germany, and UAE (United Arab Emirates).
According to you, what are the positive and negative aspects of being a book blogger in America?
I don’t think there is anything negative about being a book blogger in America. I have met some awesome book lovers like myself and have also been introduced to some amazing books.
What American authors and books would you recommend?
Lauren Kate (Fallen), Charlaine Harris (Southern Vampire series), Stephenie Meyer (Twilight series), Nicholas Sparks (Dear John), Audrey Niffenegger (The Time Traveler’s Wife), and of course my favourite poet Robert Frost.

How many languages do you speak?
Just English. I would however like to learn German and Arabic.
Where do you usually buy your books?
Border’s or Half-Price Books.
Is getting your hands on foreign books tricky or easy (not mentioning online stores)?
I have yet to have any problems although I’m sure I just jinxed myself.
Every country has its clichés. What cliché about America do you consider disproportionate?
Since I grew up in Texas I’m going to stick with what I know. We do not all wear cowboy hats, the women don’t have huge hairstyles (that makes them a foot taller), not everyone has a Southern accent, and not everyone likes steaks.
Oak Harbor was named after the Oak trees. If you were a tree, what kind would you be and why?
I would be the Salix babylonica or better known as the Weeping willow. They are such beautiful, elegant trees and it reminds me of all the great times I had on my grandparents’ farm.
Quick Q&A :
Favorite thing about living in the USA : opportunities
Least favorite thing about living in the USA : that without money you have no power
Favorite typically American food : Fried Pickle Chips & Red Vines
Favorite place in Oak Harbor : Deception’s Pass
Favorite bookshop: Half-Price Books
Favorite American author: I have too many to just pick one
Favorite American singer/band: Lady Gaga and Lady Antebellum
Favorite book to read while travelling: it has to be a new book
Plane or train: Plane
Boat or bus: : Boat
Bike or feet: Bike
Living on an island is okay some days until I need a mall or bookstore.
I would never let my daughter and husband feel unloved.
Thank you Heather! It was a pleasure having you up on the hill!
Next week we'll be traveling to Australia!
